SPG TENNIS

June 2013 Newsletter

I.
Fellow SPG Members,

Our outdoor season is in full swing and I am happy to report that as of June 11 we have 71 members.  Unfortunately we have lost some members from last year due to injuries and other commitments, but hope to see them back before the end of the season.  As in previous years, we will be e-mailing a PDF file to members with the names and permitted information of the other members so you can stay in touch and set up games outside of the weekend play.

Based on financial information submitted by the Treasurer, we have enough money in the bank to cover the cost of the courts and balls for the full summer season.  However, we always welcome new members and we would like to ask that you spread the word and recruit friends, coworkers and relatives to the group.

The Board of Trustees conducted its meeting on June 11 and designated July 27 as our official SPG Picnic date with the rain date of August 3.  As usual, SPG will supply hot dogs and hamburgers and ask the members to bring appetizers, side dishes, and desert.  Jacquie is our Hospitality Secretary and you can talk to her about what to bring so we don't overload on any one type of food.  SPG will also provide water and soft drink.  Since we are on school grounds, we ask that you refrain from bringing alcoholic beverages.

During the past month, members of the Board have been working on reviewing the SPG by-laws and updating the information and procedures it contains.  We will be mailing you a full copy of the document with the suggested changes and hold a special membership meeting during the picnic to review the changes and vote on the adoption of these recommendations.

Look forward to seeing you on the courts,

Andrew Serenyi
On behalf of the Board
